About the artist...
Hi there! My name is Lex. I'm currently 18 and a senior in high school. To this day, I have absolutely NO idea why I woke up one day and decided to try my luck at needle felting, but I did, and loved it! Since then I have made many adorable creations made of fibers from sheep, alpacas, lambs, even dogs and cats!
I have a crazy Miniature American Shepherd named Faith who I train in agility, obedience, rally, and showmanship. I realized at an early age that I had a huge passion for animals. I got my first dog at age 4, but quickly got orders to move to Japan for my dad's job. While there, I rescued a shiba inu mix named Gizzi. That's when I fell in love with training dogs! Gizzi was brought back to the states and there we trained at a local 4-H club together. Gizzi passed away in 2013 and I have since gotten my aussie, Faith!
Like dog training, my passion for art blossomed early. I learned to draw at a very young age, and with my mom being a professional photographer, I too learned very early on about the art of photography. I won a national photo contest when I was just 9 years old, and since then I have always had my face in a camera haha!
I have been accepted into pre-veterinary school, and I hope to one day become a theriogenologist.

about mutts 'n minis...
Looking for a gift for that special someone? How about a way to commemorate a lost companion? Or what about a unique way to cherish the love of your pet? Whatever the reason, Mutts ‘n Minis offers affordable miniature replicas of dogs and cats made from high quality wool fibers from alpacas, sheep, bunnies, and even your pet’s own shed fur!
My minis are 100% custom made to resemble your pet in any way I can. All minis start out as a ball of fluffy wool. Using several varieties of special needles, the wool is poked, probed, shaped, and twisted to resemble an animal. Then the fun begins! Using a wide array of colors, I begin to felt your pet’s exact markings and fur texture. After the fur is done, I can either add beaded eyes painted to match your pet’s iris color, or I can take a very fine needle, and using small pinches of colored wool, felt your pet’s eyes myself. If your pet is a cat, I can also use tiny strips of horse hair woven into the fur to create whiskers. Finally, I can make just about any accessory you can think of! From miniature dog or cat collars, to tiny balls and frisbees, all the way to service dog vests… nothing is too much!
The whole process takes several hours if not days to complete. My goal is to serve you and make my customers happy. My prices also reflect that. I have never seen another custom mini-maker who sells for under $80… I decided to charge $50. Nevertheless, these minis are strong, durable, and meant to last a lifetime!

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to make my mini?
This one is pretty hard to answer as each mini has it's own degree of difficulty. I'm also a full time student; which means schoolwork comes first. Taking this into account, please give me at least 4 weeks to complete your order.
How big are they?
My minis are approximately 5" tall by 7" long for a dog in standing position. Cats are a bit smaller, whereas horses and other livestock are a bit larger. My sizes are flexible though, so if you would prefer it smaller or larger just let me know and I can work with you.
How many/which photos should I send?
As MANY as you can get me! Seriously. If it takes flooding my inbox with 8 separate emails full of photo attachments for me to see every little detail of your pet, go ahead! The minimum photo requirements are a front, side, and rear shot. There is no maximum amount - the more, the better! If you send me photos of their paws I can even felt their paw pads too.
Do you do art trades?
YES! I very frequently accept art trades as a form of payment. If you are interested in a trade, please contact me with photos and information about your product. Things I typically trade for include (but are certainly not limited to) pet portraits, custom collars & leashes, pet sculptures, etc.
Is your wool "cruelty free"?
Oh, of course! I only order my wool from top quality family based sellers where animals are treated as pets--not profit. If you would like a list of my wool suppliers, please contact me and I would be more than happy to send this to you!
Can you make a/an (breed name here)?
I can make anything! I love getting orders for breeds I haven't done before :)
